And who is Vernon A. Springer?

So, on to Dessie’s compatriot, Vernon Springer – Chief Operations Officer of the Leeward Islands Cricket Board, Cricket Analyst, owner and CEO of VA Sports Media, Cricket Podcaster – a man who has devoted two and a half decades of his life to West Indies cricket, a man who is passionate about the development of regional cricket for both men and women, and particularly for young people. Born in St Kitts and Nevis, currently based in Antigua, and known throughout the Caribbean, Vernon has a background in cricket administration; and an impressive network of contacts who are all being brought onside to develop cricket from the bottom up.

October will be a busy month. Initiated by Vernon, DEM Sports joined him and Desmond Haynes at a really positive meeting with the Minister for Education and Sport for Antigua, the Hon Daryll Matthew on 1st of the month. We hope to follow this with a series of meetings with other influential people across the Territories. We’ve got a cricket cage currently in manufacture that we’ll be shipping out to Barbados and Antigua as a prototype. This will hopefully two do things; generate some great publicity for DEM Sports and raise awareness of how much the often poor facilities in the Caribbean could be improved by the use of one of these cages.
